Among the most rare and difficult of birds to spot, resplendent quetzals inhabit the deep cover of tropical, mountainous forests.
If lucky, soon I can visit El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve in Chiapas where this quetzal lives. El Triunfo protects one of the last great remaining cloud forests in the hemisphere and is reported to have a greater diversity of tree species than most forests in North and Central America. This critically important area is under grave threat from extensive coffee plantations and illegal immigration *
